We’ve come to love him as one half of the nation’s most beloved judging duo.
But fans are about to see a glimpse into the private life of Pete Evans like never before.
New Idea can exclusively reveal the celebrity chef will join the Better Homes And Gardens team as a regular guest, inviting viewers into his home and introducing us to his family, while showcasing some of his most-loved recipes.
‘It was something I’ve wanted to do for ages,’ Pete reveals.
The 44-year-old father-of-two says both he and his mum Joy are long-time fans of BHG.
‘As far as if you’re going to be cooking on television, Better Homes is the place to be doing it.
‘It’s part of our culture for the last 25 years, and I remember watching it when I was a teenager,’ he says.
In fact, Joy, along with Pete’s wife Nicola – who he married in 2016 – and his two children Indii and Chilli will also appear on the show.
‘I’m inviting people into my home,’ Pete explains. ‘My wife and I live on a farm as often as we can and we also have a Sydney residence as well for when I need to be down there for work and school for the kids.
‘We are filming at both residences. The kids also feature in one segment. We’re going to be making some of their favourite cookies!’
way from the bright lights and the cameras, Paleo diet advocate Pete describes himself as ‘very relaxed’.
‘I’m basically a down-to- earth person like everyone else is,’ he explains. ‘My life is very focused on family and being a husband and dad. I don’t think you’ll ever see me at the opening for a social gathering unless I have to be there for work.’
Being such a tight-knit unit, it’s tricky for Pete to be away so often filming MKR both in Australia and New Zealand.
‘Any time apart from the family is always difficult,’ he laments. ‘You make the best of the time that you have together.
‘I go home as often as I can to see Nic and the kids, take them to dancing, pick them up from sport, cook them dinner.’
Better Homes And Gardens airs Friday, 7pm, Channel Seven.
