Welcome back, Jack!
WATCH: Jack Vidgen looks unrecognisable as he auditions for The Voice 2019
You might remember the name Jack Vidgen.
He was the 14-year-old with the voice of an angel who took out the fifth season of Australia’s Got Talent in 2011.
But come 2019, he’s all grown up!
“ANNOUNCING: @jack.vidgen is coming to The Blinds to remind Australia what he’s made of,” The Voice Australia announced via their Instagram account on May 12.
But 22-year-old Jack’s musical return almost didn’t happen.
After taking home AGT‘s $250,000 in prize money and watching his single make number-three on the Aussie charts, Jack relocated to the US.
He spent two years chasing his dreams stateside before moving home, finding work at an aged care home, and reinventing himself.
“Back then, my goal was to be a music star,” he told New Idea in 2015.
“Now my goal is not to be a star. It turns out, I really don’t enjoy fame.”
He explained, “The first couple of years, I got pretty big-headed and full of myself for a while. That was one of the main reasons I stopped — I had to pull my head in.”
Two years later, in 2017, he was a bit more gentle on himself.
“It was a really full-on and amazing couple years, straight after the show,” he told the Morning Show‘s Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies.
“I was craving a bit of normality and normal teenage life, so I had a few years off and I really got to experience that.
“I made a conscious decision to step back and work on myself,” he added.
