Lisa Wilkinson announced the tragic passing of her mother, Beryl, on social media today.
In an emotional Instagram post, The Project star wrote: ‘Farewell to my sweet, beautiful mum, Beryl. You were an angel, a fighter, and a devoted mum and grandma right to the end. Be at gentle peace now. xxx’
Hundreds of her fans commented their condolences to Wilkinson.
‘I’m so sorry Lisa – sending you and your family love and strength,’ wrote one.
Another shared: ‘Much love and condolences to you! I’ve grown up alongside you and have admired all that you do. Take care and take time to move through your grief!’
It’s been a big few months for the legendary TV star, who made an abrupt exit from the Today show last year.
She said of her departure: ‘When you’re a woman, sometimes people don’t like it if you know your value,’ she said at a Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Of Commerce Christmas lunch.
‘I’m living breathing proof that knowing your value will take you places you didn’t think you’d get to.’
She has since joined The Project as a host.
