Kate Ceberano has offended fans of The Masked Singer after repeatedly making a transgender slur during TV and radio interviews following the show’s finale.

The 52-year-old singer repeatedly used the term “tranny” while discussing her performances on the show.
“Tranny” refers to a transgender person, and is considered to be outdated and offensive, and is generally unacceptable for a non-trans person to say in any context.
Kate used the word twice during post-show interviews as she discussed how she changed her voice to fool the judges.
Speaking on the Kyle and Jackie O show, she said: “The producers came to me [on] the first day and said, ‘You sound way too much like you, is there any way you can help us along and modify your voice?’ So I put on my best tranny voice.”
Seemingly unaware of her gross faux pas, the star then continued to insult and offend viewers during an interview on Studio 10.
When Studio 10 host Sarah Harris asked how she was able to cover up her distinctive voice, she again brought up how she’d tried to be a “tranny”.
“I lowered my register and made myself sound like the tranny version of myself,” Kate replied.
Kate, who was unmasked as Lion on The Masked Singer, seems uninformed around transgender issues, and unaware of her verbal slip up.
As were Studio 10 hosts, who laughed at her “tranny” confession in the segment.
