Tara Pavlovic reveals the truth about her Bachelorette ambitions

The reality TV favourite reveals all

WHO spoke exclusively with Tara Pavlovic about her time on The Bachelor, why she isn’t keen on becoming the next Bachelorette and what she thinks about the negative feedback Matty J is getting on social media.

You made us all cry last night!

[Laughs] “I’m so sorry!”

Did you watch last night’s episode?

Yep, I watched it with my sister, her husband, and my two nephews.

What was going through your mind when you didn’t get the rose?

It was a bit awkward standing there, like because you’ve gotta stand there for a little while. Then Osher comes in and he’s like “You didn’t get a rose” and I’m like “Yeah… I know.”

Did you have a feeling you’d be chosen to leave?

No inkling at all. I knew there was a chance because there was only three people left and ultimately you know this guy’s gotta end up with one so I knew there was a big chance I could go but I didn’t feel an inkling that it was going to be me.

Have you seen the reaction to Matty’s choice on social media?

I feel really sorry for Matty. I don’t think it’s fair that he’s getting criticised for it. Obviously one of the other girls is better suited to him and that’s okay – I’m not going to be everyone’s cup if tea. I just hope everyone supports him in whatever decision he makes because he’s a human.

You’ve received a lot of positive feedback, though?

“Yeah I have. Look it’s flattering and it’s really nice that I have so much love.

Do you think you were genuinely falling in love with Matty?

“I genuinely really liked Matty. I could genuinely see myself falling in love with him in the future. Um, I genuinely wasn’t in love with Matty.”

In past interviews you’ve said you weren’t interested in becoming The Bachelorette, is that still the case?

Um, maybe earlier I thought so. You have to let a lot of people down in that position and I don’t like upsetting people. And I think I’d really struggle doing that. And even seeing the backlash that Matty’s got when sending me home makes me not want to do it as well, because it must be just an awful feeling for him. I don’t want to put myself up for that much scrutiny.

Are you still single?

Yes.

Ready to mingle?

(Laughs) Yeah, look I’m not actively looking but if something came along why not.

Would you go on Tinder?

No! Definitely not.

Have you got too much personality for Tinder?

I went on Tinder for two days because everyone was like ‘Tinder’s mad!’ and I went on and I was like, ‘Aw, this is awful!” and deleted it and never went on it again.

Would you go on TV again?

Yeah I would definitely do TV work again. It was really fun and I really enjoyed it. The feedback has been so amazing and I’ve had so many people message me saying: “You’ve made me laugh so much!” So you know it’s awesome that I can make people feel happy. That’s something that I’d love to continue to do.

At your home visit, things appeared to get heated between your brother and Matty, was that the case?

It was the editing. It made my brother appear really rude and brutal, but my brother’s nothing like that at all. Actually my brother’s like me, he would never treat someone like that. Yeah he copped a lot of hate for that which was really upsetting and I felt really awful to have to bring that upon him.

In another interview with WHO, Jen said you went on to the show in order to get a gig on Play School. Is that true?

To get on Play School you have to be NIDA trained so I don’t think my best bet to get on Play School would be going on The Bachelor when I’m dating a guy who’s hooking up with a lot of girls. I also think I’d need to sign up to become NIDA trained. So that’s a really stupid comment to come from someone’s mouth that is just trying to bring me down once again. Who the hell goes on The Bachelor to get onto Play School?!

Would you get into acting? Sam Frost is now on Home and Away.

I don’t think I’m very good at acting. You know if there was more of a presenter role where I’m being myself then yeah, but I’m not very good at the whole pretending thing. I could do impressions and stuff but I don’t think I could play a whole other character.

Who do you think will win?

I don’t know I can’t choose! I’m really good friends with both of them and they’re both incredible girls. Matty is an incredible guy and whomever he chooses he’ll be happy with.

Would you hang out with the winning couple?

Yeah, for sure! Absolutely. There are no hard feelings.
