Selling Houses Australia star Charlie Albone: My love secret

The TV presenter and his interior stylist wife, Juliet, open up about married life

He rarely appears fazed by, well, anything. But when Selling Houses Australias unflappable gardening guru Charlie Albone first met his beautiful wife, Sydney interior stylist Juliet Love, he was struck by an attack of the jitters.

“I was very nervous,” recalls Charlie, adding with a laugh: “It was back in 2009 and I’d been sent photos of her as she was possibly going to be my co-host on the [then Foxtel] show The Party Garden. “I thought, ‘This could go horribly wrong – I could embarrass myself!’”

Thankfully, the landscape designer’s fears proved unwarranted. “We met in Rushcutters Bay Park [in Sydney] early one morning and did a screen-test together for the show,” remembers Juliet. “The rest is kind of history.” Adds Charlie: “I fell instantly in love with Juliet.”

Engaged within 10 months, the couple were married on the NSW South Coast just six months later.

Born in Hong Kong and raised in the UK, Charlie was thrilled that many of his loved ones headed to Australia for the nuptials.

“A lot of Charlie’s family and friends from growing up were at our wedding,” says Juliet. “Everyone stayed for the weekend and it was quite a festive affair.”

Today, the couple are busy raising their two sons Leo, 6, and Hartford, 4.

“It’s only brought us closer,” says Charlie of parenthood. “We’ve stayed the same in our relationship, but we get to appreciate our boys together.”

While Juliet and Charlie have much in common, they believe their dynamic is made more interesting by the fact that they’re not alike in every regard.

“We’re both very similar and different at the same time, which is nice,” reflects Charlie. “We have a very similar sense of humour and outlook on life, but we appreciate the other’s different opinions.”
