Ahead of today’s same sex marriage vote result, Samuel Johnson has shared details of his family life.

‘There’s barely a straight line in our family,’ the Gold Logie winner wrote on the Love Your Sister Facebook page.

The post, shared late on Tuesday night, included details for rainbow Love Your Sister socks – a fundraising initiative from the charity Samuel and his late sister, Connie, established to raise money for cancer research.

My dad was gay. My mum was a licorice all-sorts, I’m told. No-one tried harder to be straight than our Hilde,’ the post began.

‘I love ALL Villagers, whichever way you voted, but in anticipation of an historic result tomorrow, we’ve released some Love Your Sister rainbow socks.

‘Cancer doesn’t discriminate, gay people get it too. I want to vanquish cancer for everyone. I don’t pick and choose. I’d rather judge cancer than each other’s life choices,’ he continued.

Earlier in the week, Hilde – Sam and Connie’s older sister – told Love Your Sister followers that she had recently returned home from Canberra where she had visited Connie’s husband and sons.

‘The dust is settling and life keeps turning, which is life’s most important job, but the family is doing well,’ she wrote.

So far, Sam has hit $1 million in sales!
