There is one rumour circulating that Pete Evans can’t seem to shake.

The celebrity chef and judge on My Kitchen Rules revealed in a 2017 interview with the Herald Sun that a rumour was circulating where people believed that he didn’t swallow the food he was served on the reality TV cooking show.

Although he follows a strict paleo diet and is very vocal about it, the 46-year-old insists that has never once turned down any of the food offered to him on the cooking show.

“I have never spat out food from MKR, and I have swallowed every single bite that I have ever had on the show,” he revealed.

He also went on to say that the rumour could’ve easily been cleared up had someone just asked him or one of the contestants on the show if he actually ate the food.

Although, he does admit that the persistent rumour is “fascinating”.

It was also revealed in a 2015 interview with news.com.au that he broke his paleo diet in order to eat the food presented to him on the show, saying “Yes, I swallow.”

He added that eating the food despite his diet was part of his job and that “just because I’m Paleo doesn’t mean that I don’t like the flavour of food.’

“I don’t eat and purge afterwards. And I never, ever feel guilty. There’s a bigger thing at play here. It’s bigger than me.”

The Paleo diet restricts followers from eating any food that hasn’t been organically sourced. It has also been referred to as the ‘caveman diet’ due to focus on eating foods in their most natural state.

Paleo lays the foundations for a healthy diet – whole unprocessed foods, leafy greens, fresh pesticide-free vegetables, nuts, fruits on occasion, grass-fed meat, pastured free-range poultry and wild-caught fish – and lifestyle,” explains the chef on his website, The Paleo Way
