Stars offer their congratulations to Harry and Meghan

There’s nothing like a new baby to create an outpouring of love, and the arrival of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s baby boy has seen celebrities across the world offer their congratulations to the royal couple.

Meghan gave birth to their first child, a boy, on Monday, May 6, at 5.26am local time.

The Duke and Duchess are yet to announce the baby’s name, but A-listers, politicians, and celebrities the world-over have taken to Twitter to express their excitement at the news of the royal birth.

“Congratulations, Meghan and Harry! Barack and I are so thrilled for both of you and can’t wait to meet him. #RoyalBaby,” wrote Michelle Obama.

“Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the arrival of their baby boy. Wishing you all the best at this happy time,” the British Prime Minister, Theresa May wrote.

While our own Prime Minister, Scott Morrison said: “Huge congratulations to Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, on the birth of their baby boy today. Becoming a parent is one of the greatest joys of life!”

Charles Spencer, the brother of Harry’s late mum, Princess Diana, sent his nephew and Meghan some love and said, “Really very lovely news today – many, many, congratulations! (Good to have another Taurean in the family….”)

Meghan’s own mum’s announcement came via the Palace’s account: “The Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland, who is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild, is with Their Royal Highnesses at Frogmore Cottage,” the tweet said. “Her Royal Highness and the baby are both doing well.”

Harry’s uncle, Prince Andrew, tweeted, “Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the safe delivery of your baby boy!”

The cast of Suits, the TV show Meghan Markle previously starred in, congratulated their former colleague and Prince Harry as well.

Liam Payne also took to Twitter to congratulate the couple, writing: “Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the birth of your baby boy. So happy for the both of you.”

Ellen DeGeneres also expressed her joy on Twitter, writing: “The royal baby is here! Congratulations, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.” 

Meghan’s Suits co-star Patrick J. Adams offered heartfelt well-wishes: “Just heard that the world just got heavier by 7 pounds and 3 ounces. Much love to him and his incredible parents. Learned first hand 7 months ago how transformational becoming a parent is and couldn’t be happier for Meghan and Harry as they begin this adventure.”

The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, who married the couple last May in Windsor, said on Twitter: “Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the birth of their baby boy.

“May God bless the new family with love, health and happiness.”
