Princess Mary’s hell: The worst day of my life

The royal is hit with a crisis!

With preparations for Prince Frederik’s 50th birthday well and truly underway, spirits in Denmark are running at an all-time high.

However, the euphoria came to a screeching halt last Monday when the royal family witnessed a shocking fall during the annual Hubertus Hunt horse event held in Copenhagen.

Cameras caught the reactions of the Aussie princess and her children, Christian, 12, Isabella, 10 and six-year-old twins Vincent and Josephine, as they gasped in horror when a rider was thrown from his horse.

Palace sources tell New Idea that the fall left Princess Mary, 45, ‘incredibly rattled’, upset that her young children had witnessed such a terrible accident.

‘Every mother wants to protect their children from seeing such horrors, and Mary is no different,’ says a palace source. ‘And the fact that there’s still no news on the man’s prognosis has made Mary very sad – she doesn’t know what to tell the children.

‘And it had been such a lovely week. The children had been flying high with all the news of celebrations for their father’s birthday and the release of his book, and they were really looking forward to the Hubertus Hunt. But what was meant to be a day to remember turned into one of the worst days ever for Mary. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing.’

The injured ride lay limp n the ground as paramedics worked tirelessly on him, before he was taken away in an ambulance.

‘Princess Mary has reached out to the man’s family and vowed to help in any way,’ says a source. ‘She just feels awful.’
