He recently became a father to bouncing baby boy Archie Harrison with Meghan Markle, and it looks as if Prince Harry is already the definition of a doting dad.

But while he was by his wife’s side every step of the way before and (reportedly) during the arrival of his first child, the Duke of Sussex missed the birth of another very important royal baby: his niece, Princess Charlotte.

After Prince William and Kate Middleton introduced their second child to the world, Harry was asked if he felt he had missed out on a special moment for the Cambridges by not being present for little Lottie’s birth.

He replied: “Look, when you’ve been in the Army and when you lost your mother at the age that I did, you toughen up.”

The young Prince was just 12-years-old when his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, was tragically killed in a car crash at the Pont de l’Alma tunnel in Paris in August 1997.

Harry made the rather curt remark to Sky News’ royal correspondent Rhiannon Mills, who later revealed it was the first conversation she had with Prince Charles‘ son.

Ms Mills recently said of the exchange: “I just thought wow, that is quite something to be said in the very first conversation I had ever had with him.

“But it gave me an insight into the kind of man that he was in that he will be very open. What was amazing about that conversation was how down to earth he was, how candid he was.”
