Former Home and Away star Melissa George made a rare appearance with Sean Penn, as the pair stepped out at Hulu’s ‘The First’ Los Angeles Premiere on Sep. 12.
The actors – who star together in the film – posed for the cameras on the red carpet, despite having previously aired their differences.
Melissa, 41, hit the headlines last year for fleeing her marriage to Jean-David Blanc for alleged domestic violence, which her husband strongly denies.
The actress went onto detail an alleged ordeal on Sunday Night where she showed pictures of the bruising and spoke of her husband ‘repeatedly’ striking her face.
‘It started with him on top of me with my arms locked above my head. I used my feet to get him off me… I wet the bed. I wet the floor,’ Melissa told Sunday Night.
‘I just went into a crazy moment of like, ‘I’m in deep sh**.” And so I just tried to fight for myself which made him more angry, which made me more angry.
‘He pushed me into the door, and then struck my face and I hit the wall and fell on the floor and I was out,’ Melissa claimed.
Jean-David gave his own version of events.
‘Regarding the supposed violence against Melissa George, I strongly contest it…’ he previously said in a statement.
‘I have always maintained that I had been attacked first and was only trying to protect myself. Melissa George was found guilty and charged for these offences.’
Sean meanwhile has been extremely vocal on what he feels about the domestic violence campaign #metoo.
‘I don’t ever want to be in a movement. I don’t trust any movement,’ Sean previously explained.
‘The anti-war movement did not sustain,’ Sean said. ‘We’re back in wars.’
He expressed the moment was full of ‘self-aggrandisement and venting’ and leapt to the defence of American newsreader Charlie Rose who was fired from CBS show This Morning after he was accused of misconduct in the workplace.
‘He says one thing happened; other people said another thing happened,’ Penn said. ‘I wasn’t there. What I do think is we maybe should be very careful; for example, are we now going to say we will never celebrate Thomas Jefferson again: slaveholder, that’s all you are?’
‘Charlie Rose provided one of the only sophisticated dialogue programmes, and I don’t know what the percentages are, but I know that there are some lies that have been told publicly about people; I know of some serious omissions. I’m talking about women towards men.’
