Why Meghan Markle’s wedding dress SHOCKED the Queen

The Queen was not impressed.

The Givenchy wedding dress that Meghan Markle wore when she married Prince Harry stole headlines around the world, but the Queen was not too fond of the dress for this traditional reason.

The Duchess of Sussex, 37, wore a princess-worthy white Givenchy gown with a bateau neckline, fitted bodice, three-quarter length sleeves and a flowing train.

The dress, designed by Clare Waight Keller, was praised by many as an elegant but modern dress with many onlookers exclaiming that the American actress looked every bit the royal.

However, according to royal sources, the Queen herself was apparently “surprised” that Meghan decided to wear white.

The royal source told the Mail, “The Queen is said to have expressed surprise that Meghan, a divorcee, wore quite such a white dress for her wedding.”

According to tradition, a woman on her second marriage should not opt for white, instead, she should wear an off-white or blush coloured dress.

Markle has been married before, to movie producer Trevor Engleson, and whilst outside royal circles it is deemed more than appropriate to wear a white dress to your second wedding, the Queen was far from impressed.

Well, Meghan has never been one for tradition!
