Kate’s best friend’s only interview: The truth about her and Meghan

Shock news at the tennis!

It was a case of love all for sisters-in-law Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle last week, as the duchesses made their first solo appearance together at the Wimbledon women’s final.

While Serena Williams may have been the star attraction on court, the world was clamouring for a glimpse of the giggling duchesses.

Despite rumours of a rift between the two, a body language expert confirmed the women are firm friends.

And now, 36-year-old Kate’s former childhood best friend has revealed exclusively to New Idea what the gorgeous royals were really talking about at the tennis.

‘Kate absolutely adores Meghan and says that she’s an extremely special soul,’ Jessica Hay spilled to New Idea.

‘At the tennis the other day, they were watching for the love of the game and Meghan very much wanted to support longtime pal Serena Williams.’

And body language expert Judy James says it’s clear to see Kate and Meghan, 36, have forged a very special bond – with Meghan even helping to loosen up the usually poised and formal Duchess of Cambridge.

‘Kate is always very much the pitch-perfect princess in terms of her regal but warm-looking body language and the levels of confidence she displays at royal events.

‘Her Achilles heel was always Harry, who often looked duty-bound to make her laugh or giggle, and it seems from the body language here that Meghan might be adopting a similar role to try and forge a familiar and very congruent friendship with her sister-in-law.’

In fact, Judy even claims that Meghan idolises Kate.

‘While Kate sits smiling as she watches the tennis, Meghan face-checks her closely in what looks a little like admiration.’

And Jessica certainly agrees: ‘Meghan is a breath of fresh air – Kate has a female confidante and best friend who is also a part of the family.

‘They plan outfits together, they are planning holidays and weekends away. They also do yoga together – Meghan loves a special type her mum teaches that really relaxes you and she’s taught Kate how to meditate.

‘Kate is making sure Meghan enjoys every aspect of her new life, instead of being nervous like she used to be in the early days.

‘But also Meghan is helping Kate – she knows so many style and make-up tricks so they’re getting ready together before days out and really enjoying it.

‘If either of them get fed up with royal life, they have someone to laugh it all off with.’

And although both Kate and Meghan are the same age, Judy notes that Meghan behaves in a much younger manner.

‘It’s what each woman does with their smiles that defines them as two rather different personalities,’ she notes.

‘While Kate keeps her eye contact down or to the side,Meghan’s eyes to the crowd, dipped head and rather shy, lowered smile forms what is known as “The Cute Effect”, a trait of using pseudo-infantile body language to lower your own status and form instant bonds of likeability.’

But Jessica concludes Kate and Meghan’s friendship is going from strength to strength.

‘Kate loves Meghan because she has made Harry so happy. It’s so touching that his story has a happy ending, and they couldn’t have imagined a more perfect person than Meghan.’
