Grant Denyer’s wife has discussed his shock diagnosis.
Chezzi Denyer phoned in to her husband’s 2Day FM breakfast show and revealed that the 41-year-old’s blood pressure had gone “through the roof”.
‘He is in a lot of pain and it’s really difficult to watch,’ Chezzi told hosts, Ed Kavalee and Ash London.
‘It took me back to when he broke his back 10 years ago, because he obviously the pain is so intense, when he moves, that he can’t help but get quite angry, and that’s not his nature,’
‘He was in such intense, acute pain when we got into hospital, and they checked his vitals and they said, ‘This guy needs to be given a massive dose of morphine, his blood pressure is through the roof’”.
The TV favourite and radio host was rushed to hospital after injuring his back for a second time.
The star revealed the shock news on his 2Day FM breakfast show on March. 25.
‘I was down the paddock mate with my Akubra on, my flannos’, just slamming away on a star picket with a huge sledgehammer and twang – away it went,’ Grant told hosts Ed and Ash.
He later confirmed he was trying to hammer a post into the ground with a mallet when the injury happened.
‘I’m trying to grow some trees and these trees need to be held up by posts,’ Grant explained.
The star’s injury means he’s unable to host Dancing With the Stars on Monday and his wife Chezzi Denyer also spoke to the show to say the incident had caused her to suffer ‘flashbacks’ to a previous life-threatening injury he suffered during a car accident in 2008.
‘In hospital… yeah there were a few flashbacks there! Especially after they gave him Morphine,’ Chezzi told the show.
