HELLO! reports that Harry and William will be devastated to hear that Botswana has lifted the ban on elephant hunting.

Botswana’s former president Ian Khama implemented the ban on elephant hunting in 2014, however lawmakers from the ruling Botswana Democratic party have been calling to remove the ban.

Harry is particularly passionate when it comes to fighting against elephant poaching.

The Duke of Sussex and his wife Meghan Markle worked closely with Elephants Without Borders – a charity which aims to stop elephants being poached for their ivory tusks.

Harry took to Instagram to post a photo on Instagram of Dr Mike Chase with an elephant, captioned: “Their Royal Highnesses travelled to Botswana to assist Dr. Mike Chase of Elephants Without Borders in equipping a bull elephant with a satellite collar.”

“Approximately 100 elephants are poached/killed every day for their ivory tusks. The elephant pictured was sedated for just 10 minutes before he was up and back with his herd.”

“Tracking his movements has allowed conservationists to better protect him and other elephants and ensure heightened protection for these beautiful creatures moving forward.”
