Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky share secret to their happy marriage

Hollywood's biggest couple gets honest.

Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky have been married for 8 years and the stars have revealed the reason why they’ve maintained a successful marriage is because they support each other.

“My wife works a lot less now and allows me to chase this crazy dream and supports me in every way,” Hemsworth, 34, tells WHO.

The two have most recently worked together on new film 12 Strong, “It was kind of like a holiday for us,” Pataky, mum of 5-year-old daughter India and 3-year-old boys Tristan and Sasha tells WHO

“Because the kids stayed in LA and Elsa and I got to go to Albuquerque [New Mexico], that period for us was a great opportunity to just kind of hang out,” Hemsworth has said of the shoot.

About 10 days away from the kids, which was hard for both of us, but at the same time, we had a great time working with each other. I had a great experience.”

“We joked while we were filming, ‘If we don’t have any on-camera chemistry in this movie then we’re in trouble.’ ”

Sizzle-factor aside, the couple’s marriage, concedes Pataky, hasn’t always been picture perfect. The pair met in early 2010 and married over the Christmas holidays that same year, welcoming their daughter in May 2012.

“I think any time you start a family without knowing each other that much, it can be complicated,” Pataky told Elle Australia in January. “He was very young to be starting a family, and at the same time he was juggling

that with his career, and it was sometimes difficult … But he was always trying to be the best dad and has never failed to make me feel like his family is the most important thing to him and [going through that] is how we’ve become so strong together.”

And proving the two are on the same wave-length, Hemsworth admits, “My wife and I fell in love, had kids, didn’t really see each other for a few years, then fell back in love,” he told GQ Australia in October.

“In terms of work, she’s certainly given up more than I have. She’d like me to step back and be at home with the kids more and, of course, I want that, too, but I feel like I’m at this crucial point in my career—I’ve just got to set up for longevity or I’ll slip off.”

While concentrating on career, he tries to focus on couple time. “Once you have children, every instinct and every moment of your time is consumed by that,” says

Hemsworth. “So make sure you have date night even if it’s once in a blue moon, because most of the time you’re just too tired and you’d actually prefer to sleep.”
