Last week, Alex and her ex-boyfriend, former Bachelor Richie Strahan, went head-to-head after arriving on the island.
It was after her public showdown with Richie, that single mum Alex set her sights on tradie Bill, who jetted to paradise just days after being ditched by last year’s Bachelorette, Ali Oetjen.
“Alex and Bill have the most ridiculous chemistry,” says our insider. “There’s an undeniable attraction, they couldn’t keep their hands off each other and were soon inseparable.”
Waiting in the wings was Brooke, who dramatically walked out on last year’s Bachelor, Nick Cummins. Openly bisexual, the brunette beauty also had eyes for Alex and plans to make a play for her. She set about getting to know her on a more personal level and plucked up her courage, inviting her on a romantic date.
“Alex was flattered by Brooke’s gesture and producers pulled out all the stops to make it really special for them both,” says the spy. “They actually got on really well and also enjoy an intimate moment and Brooke became hopeful they would spend some more time together.”
Meanwhile, back at the resort, Bill is left feeling threatened
and upon Alex’s return he takes her to one side and reveals that, despite it being early in their relationship, he’s developed feelings for her. But, despite the pair making a secret pact to be exclusive, everything will be turned on its head when former Paradise beauty and ex Bachelor contestant Florence Alexandra arrives and shakes things up by asking Bill out. And all this may have been planned.
“Bill and Florence already know each other and had discussed tactics before the filming started,” says the spy. “So Flo thought it would be a done deal with her and Bill, but it completely backfired on her because he was infatuated with Alex by the time she arrived and was like a lovesick puppy talking nonstop about his feelings for her which made Flo angry. She was ditched by Jake [Ellis] for Megan [Marx] last year and was annoyed the same thing was happening again.”
But while Florence plotted her revenge on the loved-up duo, Brooke struggles in silence.
“It’s really hard for Brooke,” says the spy. “She has a very sensitive side and was so emotional, often breaking down in tears while filming. I think two failed attempts at love on television is just too much for her and she wanted to go home.”
