It was modern cuisine versus traditional Indian in tonight’s epic grand final.
Beloved team Amy and Tyson beat fellow Queensland mother and daughter Valerie and Courtney to the coveted MKR prize.
In a rare display of emotion, the brother and sister embraced after their win was announced.
Since day one, Amy and Tyson have been front-runners in the competition – earning themselves the highest score in MKR history – as well as being a talking point thanks to their blunt approach.
Tyson garnered the nickname Angry, Angry Man for his explosive outbursts of rage.
However, sister Amy says, ‘He’s kind of relaxed through out this competition.’
Tyson adds: ‘I don’t think angry, angry man is going to be seen again.’
But the pair always knew people would get to know them properly eventually.
‘We’re very straightforward and honest and our sense of humour is very dry so some people might not understand that straight off,’ Tyson told New Idea at the beginning of the season.
‘Once you get to know us we’re not those villainous people.’
Following their big win on MKR, Tyson is hoping to find work in the food industry.
‘I’ll be hopefully talking to a chef shortly and getting into a kitchen to work full time,’ he revealed.
‘I’m not sure if I’ll do an official apprenticeship or if I’ll work and get experience that way.’
Meanwhile, Amy is happy to return to her work in human resources.
In the grand final teams presented a five-course menu, featuring a cold entrée, a hot entrée, a seafood course, a meat course and dessert, producing 100 plates for a packed restaurant of judges, family members and the eliminated teams.
Amy and Tyson served Parmesan & Truffle Mousse with Mushrooms, Pea & Ham Soup, Butter Poached Marron with Jerusalem Artichoke and Rhubarb, Veal, Sweetbreads and Marrow and, After Dinner Mint.
