Prior to her life as a royal, Kate Middleton lived with her parents in a village near Newbury, Berkshire called Chapel Row.
Catherine’s parents Carole Goldsmith and Michael Middleton married in 1980 and later welcomed the Princess of Wales on 9 January 1982, making her firstborn child in the Middleton family.
Her parents then went on to have two more children, Pippa and James.
As the children were growing up, Carole and Michael ran a successful party planning business which allowed them to send the kids to the private British schools St. Andrews and Marlborough College.
When Kate left Marlborough College in 2000, she took a gap year before enrolling at the University of St. Andrews, Fife, in 2001. She graduated with a 2:1 in History of Art in 2005.
It was while she attended the university that the princess first met Prince William.

Carole, 69, was born in London to Dorothy Harrison and Ronald Goldsmith and is a very distant relative of Queen Elizabeth’s mother, the Queen Mother.
Michael, 75, was born in Leeds to Valerie Glassbrow and Peter Middleton, a very wealthy Yorkshire family with ties to the British aristocracy.

Who is Kate Middleton’s uncle?
Gary Goldsmith, 59, was born on 29 April 29 1965, to Ronald and Dorothy Goldsmith. Gary is Carole Goldsmith’s younger brother and is, therefore, Kate’s maternal uncle.
He has been married four times and has one child, Tallulah, with his second wife, Luan. Gary is a self-made millionaire who made his living after building an IT recruiter business, Computer Futures.
The recruitment advisor has lived a very different lifestyle from the other members of the family and has found himself in the headlines many times due to his comments about the royal family.
He recently joined Celebrity Big Brother UK and declared himself an “absolute nightmare” when the show debuted at the beginning of March. While the businessman has only spoken highly of his niece, he has previously taken aim at other royals such as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
