Since Prince Harry announced his history-making engagement to Meghan Markle in November 2017, rumours of a royal feud between the American actress and Kate Middleton, the future queen, have run rife.

The reason for this alleged divide has been heavily debated, but one royal expert said regardless of what caused the dispute it’s the Duchess of Cambridge who is responsible for resolving the issue.

In an interview with the Express UK, Sheela Mackintosh-Stewart explained as the “most senior royal” Kate is obliged to make the first move by extending an olive branch to her new sister-in-law.

According to Mackintosh-Stewart, Duchess Catherine – who is married to second-in-line to the British throne, Prince William – is the more established spouse with deeper roots and relationships within the royal family, and as a result must be the one to approach the newly minted Duchess of Sussex about their disagreements.

The expert shared advice for Kate, suggesting she could share stories with Meghan about how she adapted to the stresses and strains of royal duty as well as encouraging the two women to attend public engagements together as a show of solidarity.

“The public’s hearts would no doubt melt if Meghan was to be see accompanying Kate on her school runs or doing ‘girly’ activities with her,” she advised.

Sources have claimed the root of tension stems from the preparation for Meghan’s marriage to Harry last May, when the former Suits star allegedly caused Kate to cry after a dress fitting for Princess Charlotte.

Meghan’s demanding behaviour and diva like attitude is said to have continued beyond the wedding day, with reports of the 37-year-old’s rudeness steadily leaking from Kensington Palace.

Despite Palace denials, the rumour mill has continued to spin.

Matters have not been helped by Kate’s notable absence from Meghan’s baby shower yesterday afternoon, with the Cambridges’ reportedly skipping out on the NYC celebration in favour of a family ski trip to glamorous Courchevel in Les Trois Vallees in France.

The seven-months pregnant Duchess was supported by A-list pals including Serena Williams, Amal Clooney and Jessica Mulroney for her lavish shower at the upscale Mark Hotel on the Upper East Side.
