And now, it appears style isn’t the only quality Charlotte will take from her mother, after she received a surprise gift at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday.

According to Hello magazine, the four-year-old was gifted a ball from gold-winning netball champion Geva Mentor, who was being presented with an award at the time.

Geva, who is the former England captain and previously helped her team secure a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games, said she hopes the gift will inspire Charlotte to enjoy sport.

“I think it’s so important that kids know what netball is and grow up with it,” Geva told the Press Association.

If Charlotte did take up the sport, she would again follow in her mother’s footsteps, because netball was one of the sports Kate excelled in at school, in addition to swimming and hockey.

Whether or not she does take up the sport, one thing remains true, and that is the youngster has already adopted her mother’s keen interest in tennis.

A royal insider previously told the publication Charlotte and her big brother George regularly enjoy tennis lessons at Hurlingham Club in Fulham, south-west London.

The four-year-old is currently enrolled as a student at Thomas’ school in Battersea, where physical education and sport are an important part of the curriculum.

Charlotte’s sweet gift comes after royal fans recently took to social media to point out the similarities between the youngster and her royal relative, Lady Kitty Spencer.

The resemblance became abundantly clear when Kitty shared a childhood photo of herself on Instagram.

“Gosh you look like Princess Charlotte here,” one fan wrote.
