The $30-million-a-year tax on sanitary products has been abolished by all state and federal governments.
Treasurers from NSW, Victoria and all the other states and territories unanimously agreed to federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg’s proposal on Wednesday, killing off the 10 per cent luxury levy on the products.

The final decision to abolish the GST on female sanitary items comes after more than a decade of campaigning from women’s groups.
Women’s rights groups have long argued that the products are essential and should be exempt from the tax.
Condoms and lubricant have never been subject to the GST since it was established in 2001.
The tax is expected to be removed from these products by January 1, 2019.
