Shock royal tapes exposed: What they didn’t want you to see

In 1987 members of the royal family – including Prince Edward, Princess Anne, Duchess Sarah and Prince Andrew – took part in a cringeworthy royal spin-off of the slapstick game show It’s A Knockout.

“There was not a single courtier who did not think it was a mistake,” Ben Pimlott revealed in his 1996 book The Queen.

Rather than making the royals more relatable, Pimlott states that the “excruciating” program “made the public stunningly aware that a sense of decorum was not an automatic quality in the royal family”.
