Red Symons’ son Samuel Symons has tragically passed away at the age of 27, following his lifelong battle with cancer.
Releasing a statement via 3AW on Wednesday morning, the Symons’ family said: “It is with the deepest sadness Red announces the passing of his beautiful son Samuel Symons.
“We ask that you please respect the privacy of Red and his family at this very sad and difficult time.”
Samuel has been battling cancer since the age of 4, when he was admitted to the Peter Macllum Centre for a brain tumour.
Throughout his life, he also had secondary cancers diagnosed.
In late May, he was awarded the Outstanding Achievement by a Young Volunteer Award at the Minister for Health Volunteer Awards for his life-long advocacy work for people living with cancer.
Our thoughts are with the Symons family.
