The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that The CW network is working with Jane The Virgin showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman to develop the new series.

A much-awaited Charmed reboot comes more than three years after CBS announced plans to remake the original TV show, which aired on on The WB Network for eight seasons and starred Shannen Doherty, Holly Marie Combs, Alyssa Milano and Rose McGowan.

While the new series will be connected in some way to the original series, it’s not yet clear how large the link is at this stage. It is currently being described as a ‘reimagining’ of the old show, which is set in 1976.

When CBS announced a possible reboot in 2013, it never reached the development stage as original castmates Alyssa Milano and Rose McGowan did not support it.

Milano even took to Twitter to express her disapproval.

However, it appears the actress has changed her tune, even taking to Twitter to thank fans for positive Tweets they sent through to her.

Milano also uploaded a throwback snap of herself as her character Phoebe alongside co-star Billy Zane.

The original series ran between 1998 – 2006 and had a huge following of fans.
