My Kitchen Rules’ Stacey & Ash: ‘Our baby news’

A family of three!

My Kitchen Rules favourites Stacey and Ash have been engaged for less than a year – and already they’re in the final stages of planning their wedding.

Eager to start their lives together as a married couple, the Byron Bay Instagram influencers couldn’t be more loved up.

“The wedding’s all happening,” Stacey, 27, tells New Idea.

So does that mean starting a family is next on the cards? The affable young couple open up about their baby plans, plus what they’ve got in store for the rest of the year – including a possible stint on Home and Away!

Is anyone from MKR invited to the wedding?

Ash: We think there might be a couple, but we need to see if we have a relationship with them out of the show.

Because obviously, the wedding, we’re keeping it really small, like 50 or 60 people. But we’ll see. Some of them might get, like, a last-minute invite.

Stacey: Yeah, at the moment it’s kind of just the very closest friends and family. So we really need to knuckle down and see exactly what numbers we’re talking.

How much have you planned of the wedding so far?

Stacey: So the dress – clearly the most important thing. That, I’ve got sorted. I’m going to Grace Loves Lace, they’re creating one for me.

Ash: And I will be suited up!

Given that you guys do things quickly, does that mean that kids are on the cards soon?

Ash: No!

Stacey: We do want kids eventually, but we’re talking in, like, three, four years time. We’ve got so many things we want to do first.

Ash: We just want to be able to go on a honeymoon and go eat ourselves silly in Italy, and all that sort of stuff.

And we really want to do our own little segment on Better Homes and Gardens, or something like that. So we just want to do a bunch of stuff before we have kids.

What’s the response been like so far from viewers of the show?

Stacey: We’re kind of overwhelmed with the response we’ve got.

Everything’s been so positive, and I think you can’t really miss us when we’re walking down the street. People kind of pick up on the eye patch and know where they’ve seen it.

So people aren’t shy to come up and say hi! But it’s fun. A lot of kids are excited to see us, too.

Ash: We went to a cooking demo and a kid was dressed up as a pirate. It was the best!

Stacey: It was the cutest.

Would you consider doing more TV work after the show is finished?

Ash: We just did an episode of [Queensland lifestyle show] Creek To Coast. We built a little relationship with those guys so we might do something more regular with them.

Stacey: We’d like to have our own little segment on something like Creek To Coast where we do all of our lifestyle things and a bit of healthy eating … and our market to plate, stuff that we’d like to showcase.

You’d both fit right in on Home and Away! Would you ever consider acting?

Ash: I’ve got tattoos. I could be one of the new bad boys!

Stacey: You’d be like [a] River Boy. Look out!

Ash: I would love to do something like that. I think it would be super fun, but I think at the moment we’re not totally focused on acting, we’re open to any TV opportunities.

Would you guys leave Byron if you got an opportunity in Sydney or somewhere else?

Ash: Yeah. We’re not tied down to Byron, but I’d say, we would maybe even, if we got an opportunity somewhere else, we’d still keep our place in Byron and then come back whenever we could.
