It’s all happening for Karl Stefanovic – with emotional scenes between the controversial host and his second wife Jasmine, as he was called back to Channel Nine for an ‘urgent meeting’. The latest developments come amid some difficulties of late for Karl, who has at times seemed like a lost soul.

Pictured sitting in his car with Jasmine ahead of the chat with Nine chiefs, things at first seemed a bit tense between the couple, before they kissed and made up.
‘Karl and Jasmine seemed to be talking quite intensely for a while, he had a frown on his face’ says an onlooker. ‘But whatever that was about, it was all over quickly, and they kissed.’
Sources tell New Idea that Karl was called into Nine for what has been described as an ‘urgent meeting.’ There is speculation among informed sources that he is going to be asked to return in some capacity to the Today Show, after his shock axing earlier this year.
With Seven’s Sunrise destroying Today in the ratings, it’s believed producers are considering all options to save the Nine show.
Karl has recently confessed the stakes are high for him since he was given the chop, telling Steve Price’s on his 2GB show of his recent dramas, ‘You just got to plough on’.
Karl’s dramas have dominated headlines since his split from wife of 21 years, Cassandra Thorburn, 48, and his subsequent marriage to the much younger Jasmine Yarbrough, 34.
The bad publicity led Nine to drop him from his Today show role in December.
Karl has recently opened up about his sensational departure from Nine, revealing he was ‘struggling towards the end of last year’.
Speaking at Nine’s Gold Logie recovery brunch, the former breakfast show co-host candidly revealed he was having a tough time when he was dumped from the program while on his honeymoon with his shoe-designer second wife.
‘It’s been about six months since I was on the telly, and I needed to have a rest. Towards the end of last year, I was cooked.
‘It had taken its toll, a lot of the attention — all the unwarranted attention I thought, and you can’t control any of that, I’m not going to complain too much about that, but what it meant was that in a work capacity I don’t believe for a second I was at my best.
‘I think I was struggling towards the end of last year.’
Now it remains to be seen if Nine is ready to give him another chance.
