Britney Spears has been hospitalised at a mental health facility in the United States, according to new reports.
The iconic singer is said to have admitted after suffering an emotional breakdown and becoming “distraught” over her beloved father Jamie’s serious illness.
TMZ reports the star has been inside the facility for approximately a week and is expected to remain there for the next month.
Hours ago, the 37-year-old shared a quote with her 21.6 million Instagram which seemed to hint at her current situation.
The post read: “Fall in love with taking care of yourself. Mind, body, spirit.”

The mother-of-two recently put her Las Vegas residency, Britney: Domination, on hold to take time out with her dad who, by her own admission, she shares a “special relationship” with.
Spears’ father has undergone two corrective surgeries on his intestines and colon but reports indicate the most recent operation resulted in significant complications.
Since 2008, the troubled star has been under legal conservatorship because of issues with her mental and physical health.
In recent times, Britney has been dating model Sam Asghari and The Blast reports the couple are still together and stronger than ever despite her treatment.
The publication also claim Britney’s sons, Sean and Jayden, are in the care of their father Kevin Federline who has taken “90 percent custody” since she was committed.
