Worldwide fame and fortune comes at a cost – and Boy George knows this all too well.
In town for his new gig as a coach on The Voice, the Culture Club hitmaker had to have a ‘crazed fan’ escorted off the set when she tried to get too close.
After slinking onto the Fox Studios stage midway through a taping of the show, security were immediately aware that something was off with the woman, a source reveals.
‘This woman looked really strange. She was wearing a wig, her make-up appeared to be a bit smudged and she was wearing a see-through poncho, which she refused to take off,’ an audience member recalls.
‘She sat down next to me and security knew something wasn’t right with her.
‘They moved her to a different seat so they could confine her a safer area,’ the source says.
‘But she wasn’t even watching the performances – she would stand and stare directly at Boy George, even when a singer was on stage.’
Things escalated when the woman took her chance to leap on stage during a filming break – heading directly towards the flamboyant 55-year-old.
‘As soon as they stopped filming, the woman jumped out of her seat and tried to get to George – she was a woman on a mission,’ the insider recounts.
‘But she wasn’t quick enough – a big, bulky bodyguard got to her first before she could do any damage, and she was whisked away. I even heard police were called.’
