We take a look at the top five strangest stories about the British monarchy…
5. The royals are alien lizards
Former BCC sports presenter turned conspiracy theorist, David Icke is convinced that the British royals are shape shifting lizards!
Icke has written several best-selling books that claim “humanity is actually under the control of dinosaur-like alien reptiles who must consume human blood to maintain their appearance.”
Christine Fitzgerald (a confidante of Princess Diana) apparently told Icke during an interview about her belief that royals don’t ever die but are instead “metamorphosed” by regenerating their skin – in the same way a lizard can grow its tail back.
4. Princess Margaret has a secret love child
A man named Richard Brown has spent decades trying to prove that he is Princess Margaret’s illegitimate child.
Born in Kenya, Brown claims that Princess Margaret – the Queen’s late sister – had secretly given birth to him in 1955 and had covered it up ever since. At the time, Margaret had recently split from a scandalous love affair with divorcee Group Captain Peter Townsend and Brown insists he was the product of their affair.
Brown has spent thousands trying to prove the theory, and appealed to the High Court as recently as 2015 to have his case heard.
3. Prince Charles is really a vampire
Now this is seriously bizarre!
According to genealogy records, the Prince of Wales is a distant descendant of Vlad the Impaler, the man who Bram Stoker’s Dracula was inspired by.
According to historical sources, the author based his book on the gruesome antics of Vlad III, hence the theory that Charles is technically an evil bloodsucker.
Another fact that fuels the vampire theory is the fact the disease Porphyria is present amongst the royals. Porphyria is an iron-deficiency disease that makes skin sensitive to sunlight.

2. Kate Middleton used a surrogate for Princess Charlotte
Despite displaying her baby bump throughout her second pregnancy to Princess Charlotte, there were whispers at the time that the Duchess of Cambridge had secretly used a surrogate.
While there is no absolutely no evidence to suggest this is true, royal naysayers thought Kate emerged from the birth to greet the waiting press looking a little too perfect.
Some even went on to suggest that she did a Beyoncé (allegedly!) and wore a false baby bump throughout her pregnancy.
1 Princess Diana was murdered by the royal family
Perhaps the most widely known and popular of the conspiracy theories is that the late Princess Diana – who was killed in a tragic car accident in Paris – was really murdered by the royals.
At the time of Diana’s death in 1997, some people dismissed the official story as a cover up and are convinced that Diana was murdered and that it was planned by Prince Charles and the British secret service.
