This tasty cheesy sandwich recipe is quick to make and delicious to eat!

Combining our favourite things (a ham and cheese toastie) with french toast, this meal is sure to spice up you and your loved ones’ lunch boxes.

The best part? It’s a healthy-ish snack!

TIP: Try replacing the ham with salami, for a change. Pane di casa is an Italian bread available from Woolworths supermarkets.

Ingredients

Method

1.

Cut bread into 12 x 1.5cm thick slices, reserving remaining bread for another use.

2.

Place half the bread on a clean board. Spread evenly with sauce (about 11/2 teaspoons on each). Top with ham, olives, basil and cheese. Top with remaining slices of bread.

3.

Whisk eggs with milk in a large jug. Season with pepper. Pour into a shallow dish. Place parmesan in a separate, shallow dish.

4.

One at a time, place a sandwich into egg mixture, leaving for 15 seconds before turning over and repeating on the other side. Dip in parmesan to coat on both sides. Place on an oven tray lined with baking paper.

5.

Cook in a hot oven (200C) for about 15 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp. Remove.

6.

Serve sandwiches cut in half.
