Fans of Meghan Markle have questioned the timing of Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi’s engagement, calling the couple out for making their announcement during the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s royal tour of Africa.

Beatrice and Edo annouced their engagement on Thursday, after he popped the question during the couple’s holiday in Italy earlier this month.

However, with Harry and Meghan currently on a 10-day royal tour of Africa, some followers have accused the couple of trying to steal the limelight with their wedding news.

Many fans took to Twitter to vent their rage at the royal faux pas.

“Convenient for Beatrice to announce her engagement while Harry and Meghan are on tour. Great timing I must say,” one user wrote.

While another tweeted: “It’s more like Beatrice hogging the limelight during Meghan’s South African tour. Couldn’t she have waited for a couple of days?”

Other fans jumped to the Princess’s defence, saying they were thrilled at the good news.

“Wish people would stop thinking the Royal Family begins and ends with Meghan Markle, Princess Beatrice has been part of Royal Family since birth and should be able to announce her engagement when ever she feels like it if the Queen approves who the hell is everyone else to judge.”

Rumours of an impending engagement between Princess Beatrice and her boyfriend Edoardo ‘Edo’ Mapelli Mozzi have been circulating for months.

The couple, who have been dating since September 2018 and went public with their relationship in March this year, have attended numerous royal engagements together, including the wedding of Lady Gabriella Windsor in May.

However, the smitten pair had to delay the announcement of their own big day, because of Queen Elizabeth II

According to a royal expert, the delay was caused by the Queen’s hectic schedule.

“They have to find a gap in her diary before they name the day,” royal expert Ingrid Seward told Hello!
