Princess Beatrice recently went public with her boyfriend of several months, real estate millionaire and son of a count Edoarado “Edo” Mapelli Mozzi.
But, while the new coupling thrilled Beatrice’s parents – the Duke and Duchess of York, who are longtime friends of Edo’s late stepfather, political operative Christopher Shale – not everyone was thrilled with the romance.
A source told Star that Edo broke up with his fiancé, architect Dara Huang, with whom he shares 2-year-old son Wolfe, to date the 30-year-old royal.
“It’s not fair, but the royal family is so powerful,” Star reports Dara’s father saying.
“Why would they want to go break up [my daughter’s family]?”
Despite Beatrice and Edo’s relationship only beginning several months ago, it seems the millionaire real estate agent has been attempting to scope out a spot in the royal family for years.
Edo has always been a close friend of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s, who even reportedly gifted him and Dara a gold-winged onesie for Wolfe’s baptism in 2016.
“The Yorks really were like family to Edo and Dara,” an insider told Star.
“It’s an awful betrayal.”
“Beatrice would never allow herself to break into another coupe’s happiness,” a royal insider adds, “especially when a child’s involved.”
The Royal Family are yet to respond to Star’s report.
