Daytime television fans were devastated to learn the producers of the long-running soap Days of Our Lives had released the entire cast from their contracts.

But despite the show reportedly going on an “indefinite hiatus” this month, an insider has now revealed the show will likely continue beyond the short break – calling the news “click bait”.
According to People, the reason for the short break is to catch up on already filmed episodes, which are reportedly filmed many months in advance.
“The show shoots months and months in advance and they’ve gotten so far ahead that the cast was prepared ages ago for the fact that they would all be put on hiatus until closer to pick-up (aka renewal) time, for scheduling reasons,” the source said.
“The show will almost definitely get renewed and this was not news to literally anyone on the show, nor is anyone truly concerned.”
The soap opera is currently in its 55th season, and according to another report on Deadline, negotiations for season 56 are rumoured to be already underway.
Days of Our Lives is set in the fictional Midwestern town of Salem, and follows the lives of the Horton, Brady, Kiriakis, Hernandez and DiMera families.
First airing on November 8, 1965, the show has seen an array of bizarre and wacky plots, including Marlena Evan’s supernatural possession storyline.
Among the notable alumnus are Lisa Rinna, John Aniston, Susan Seaforth Hayes, Suzanne Rogers, Deidre Hall, Eileen Davidson and Alison Sweeney.
Many of the cast members have stayed with the soap for decades, with Suzanne Rogers being the longest-serving member of the current cast, having appeared on the show since 1973.
