Remove base from a 20cm round springform pan (base measures 19cm). Tear off a sheet of baking paper larger than the base. Invert the base, then place paper over the top. Without trimming the baking paper, place the side of the pan over the baking paper and secure the clip on the side of the pan. Do not grease.
Sift flour, cocoa and salt into a large bowl. Stir in sugar. Add combined 1 cup warm water, oil, vinegar and vanilla. Stir until combined. Pour into prepared pan. Smooth over top.
Pull out pan and basket from a 7-litre air fryer. Place springform pan in basket. Slide pan and basket back into air fryer. Set temperature to 150C. Set timer and cook for 30 to 40 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Remove springform pan from air fryer basket. Cool in pan.
Transfer cake to a serving plate. Spread frosting over top. Decorate with M&M’s.
