Although Kate was extremely hurt by the things Harry and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, said in their TV sitdown with Oprah Winfrey and his book Spare, she has always adored Harry and still harbours hope they can fix things.
“Kate will never give up on the Harry she once knew and loved,” adds the source.
“They were so close and helped each other through so much. She refuses to believe he’s changed so much that none of it meant anything to him. She misses her old friend and wants desperately for him to make things right with William.”
Harry knows that if there is any chance of a reconciliation happening, it has to be on neutral territory. Therefore, our source says he has extended an invite to meet his sister-in-law in Los Angeles.
“Of course Harry would prefer to have Kate come to Montecito so he can show off the home he’s made for his kids, but he knows Meghan is not ready for a face-to-face with Kate, even on her home turf,” says the source.
“Kate’s not ready to a play nice with Meghan either.”
While our sources add that “there’s a lot to clear up” and “there will be tears” during their meeting, Kate is also secretly “excited” at the possibility of seeing her nephew and niece, Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, two, for the first time in many months.
“Kate’s requested somewhere with a garden in case Harry is able to bring Lili and Archie,” adds the source.
