We love a good mud cake hack here at New Idea Food – and this one is a beauty!Posted at the amazing Addicted to Bargains page on Instagram, mum Sam shows how she created this awesome number eight cake using two Woolworths $4.80 Mud Cakes.
And her technique for turning it into the perfect ‘8’ shape is just genius! By simply cutting centre holes in the middle of both cakes and then about 4-5cm off the bottom of one cake and the same off the top of another, you can position them together to make the perfect ‘8’ shape!
She writes: ‘My eldest daughter turned 8 during the week and I “made” (more like decorated) this cake for her … It’s super easy to do and you can do any number, just Google it. What would we do without Google? 😂’
Sharing a series of photos to show how she created the cake, Sam says the entire cake cost her less than $20 – a fraction of the cost of what many stores will charge!She adds: ‘I used:2 x @woolworths_au Mud Cakes $4.80 = $9.60; 1 x Betty Crocker Frosting $4 (Woolies); Pink/Blue Choc Buttons $2 x 2 = $4 @therejectshop.’
