Sam Armytage’s health scare revealed

Sam Armytage is feeling like a brand-new person after getting a total hip replacement due to severe osteoarthritis.

“New hip, new me, no worries,” Sam, 47, gleefully wrote in an Instagram post while sharing photos of her rehabilitation.

The Farmer Wants A Wife host explained that an active childhood and a skiing accident 30 years earlier had taken a toll on her right hip and worn “all the cartilage out”.

She also that joked she was now “truly bionic”.

“I’m so proud of how strong my body is and how well I’ve healed,” Sam added.

“My nearest & dearest are pleased to not have to watch me limp around in pain anymore.”

In her post, Sam thanked the “wonderful” staff at Sydney’s St Vincent’s Hospital.

She added that “lots of ice packs” and “a lil’ bit of Endone” also aided her recovery.

The presenter was inundated with messages of support from friends and fans alike.

“I think this deserves a new pair of Jimmy Choos,” wrote Kylie Gillies. “just to kick up those old heels and new hip ! Glad to hear it’s gone well x.”

“You’ll be dancing in no time. Sending you love xxx,” added Ricki-Lee Coulter.

“Can’t believe the amount of people who are having hip replacements,” penned Melissa Hoyer. “But better to get it done when you’re young!!! Good luck with your rehab Sam!”

Sam’s surgery came a week after Farmer Wants A Wife was nominated for a TV WEEK Logie Award for the Best Structured Reality Program.

The dating show is in the running along with Gogglebox Australia, Married At First Sight, Muster Dogs, Old People’s Home for Teenagers, and SAS Australia.

“Thrilled to be nominated,” the presenter wrote on Instagram following the news.
