Has Pippa totally copied Kate’s wedding?

With just hours to the almost-royal big day, we take a look at their sibling rivalry

We’re on the edge of seats waiting for Pippa’s almost-royal wedding to begin. But with everything in place for her big day, sources are speculating that the hush hush event may bear more than a passing resemblance to her older sister Kate’s own wedding day….

The service start time

Much like Kate’s own wedding in 2011 – which began at 11:00am – Pippa’s church service set to start at 11:30am sharp.

While the Daily Mail reports that older guests are annoyed at the prospect of a long day, the early start has been planned with Prince George and Princess Charlotte, the page boy and bridesmaid, in mind as they need their afternoon naps.

Much like Kate’s surprise choice of wedding dress designer – she plumped for Alexander McQueen creative director Sarah Burton – Pippa has gone for quirky Brit designer Giles Deacon.

And just like her sister, Pippa is believed to have chosen a second gown to slip into after the ceremony.

The timing

While Kate’s royal wedding was understandably planned with military precision, Pippa is also not leaving anything to chance, with her father, Michael, recently spied carrying a church seating plan and a timetable, divided into 15 detailed stages. A source told the Daily Mail that this is known as ‘spreadsheet splicing’, with minute-by-minute timings identified in coded colours assigning duties to family members.

‘Military precision is the order of the day,’ the insider explains. ‘The wedding planners have identified timings down to the very last second, even bath-running in the morning.’

The guest list

She’s got just 120 church guests, a fraction of the 1,900 who attended Kate’s Westminster Abbey service. But later Pippa, following Kate’s lead, has invited 300 to attend the after party.

Guests will include Prince Harry’s new girlfriend, Meghan Markle, as well as tennis star Roger Federer and the Middleton’s disgraced family member Uncle Gary.

The transport

Kate may have had a red and gold 1902 State Landau to escort her from Westminster Abbey, but Pippa isn’t exactly skimping on transport either – hiring a ribbon-adorned Jaguar Mark V to ferry her to the after party, as well as a fleet of Range Rovers for guests.

The cake

Pippa can’t quite compete with Kate’s eight-tier cake, but she’s going to try!

Her five-tier creation is said to cost well over $2000

The ‘flypast’ and balcony kiss

Whereas Kate’s wedding was witness to a full military ‘flypast,’ Pippa will have to make do with a solitary spitfire flying over the ceremony – a gift from one of her father’s friends.

But best of all, there’s even talk of a balcony kiss!
