Liam Hemsworth learned about his split from Miley Cyrus on social media.
According to Page Six, the August 10 statement issued by Miley’s people “blindsided” the Australian actor, who was spending time in Byron Bay with his brother Chris Hemsworth.

The statement at the time read: “Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time. Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”
Weeks after their announcing split, the Hunger Games actor quickly filed for divorce from Miley, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ – and sources tell US publication Life & Style that things have since ‘turned toxic’ – even allegedly becoming ‘the nastiest divorce ever’.
Upon hearing her now ex-husband had filed for divorce, a Miley source told PEOPLE that the singer, “didn’t expect it”.
“She didn’t expect it and is a bit disappointed, but she is still doing well and has obviously moved on as well,” the source said.
“What she and Liam had for a long time was very special.”
Miley quickly moved on from Liam with Brody Jenner’s ex-wife, Kaitlynn Carter.
She vehemently denied on social media that she cheated on Liam.
“I can accept that the life I’ve chosen means I must live completely open and transparent with my fans who I love, and the public, 100% of the time,” the “Wrecking Ball” singer tweeted.
“What I cannot accept is being told I’m lying to cover up a crime I haven’t committed. I have nothing to hide.”
