As Karl and Jasmine make the final preparations for their beautiful Mexican nuptials it has been revealed their dream day has been overshadowed by a dark past.
To outsiders, the resort city of Los Cabos – known to tourists as Cabo – looks like an idyllic place to hold a wedding ceremony.
But in reality, those staying there are wise to heed warnings on how to stay safe.
“It looks beautiful in the brochures,” says our insider. “It’s described as the most romantic destination. But in reality it’s a very dangerous place rife with cartel and Mexican gang crime.”
Just last year, armed gunmen stormed a family gathering on the Palmilla beach opening fire shooting dead three people and hospitalising another two – the grisly murder scene just moments from the spot Karl and Jasmine plan to say “I do.”
Wedding guests including Richard Wilkinson and Sylvia Jeffreys have had no choice but to take heed of the stern warnings not to leave the villas alone, especially at night.
“You can’t just pop out to the shops or head out to dinner and drinks,” says the insider. “But Karl and Jas chose the area hoping to make the destination easy access for the various guests flying in from around the world.”
However Karl’s ex wife Cass is said to be terrified by the thought of her three children heading to one of the most dangerous countries in the world.
“Of course she is worried,” says the insider. “What mother wants her young teens to go to such a volatile place? Yes she knows there will be lots of family and friends around but Karl and Jas will be pretty busy so it’s not like they can watch them all the time.”
