The 38-year-old mum-of-three posted a candid video of her come-back to her Instagram, before the show went to air.
“Well this is weird, yet strangely familiar,” she told her fans.
Carrie was last behind The Project desk in November, before she left to have her third baby, Adelaide, who she welcomed in December.
The beloved star returned to the show with co-hosts Waleed Aly, Peter Helliar and Steve Price by her side.
Speaking of her time on maternity leave, and the stress of looking after three children, Carrie said: “It’s been awesome — don’t I look fresh, you know.”
“Don’t let the croaky voice or the snotty nose fool you, I am in bliss.”
She went on to tell Peter that going from two to three children wasn’t the easy ride she’d been expecting.
“It has been great having a third kid, [but I’m] slightly annoyed at you … and Chrissie Swan,” she said.
“Both of you said to me going from two to three [kids] will be easy. And it has been so incredibly hard.”
Carrie has been on maternity leave to look after her new baby, Adelaide, who was born on December 9, 2018.
The mum-of-three shares her 7-month-old daughter with her partner Chris Walker.
The couple also have a daughter, Evie, 4, together, and Carrie is mum to Oliver, 11, whose dad, Carrie’s husband Greg Lange, passed away in 2010 after a long battle with brain cancer.
