Richard Davies spills on Offspring Season 8

Will the Proudman's return?

It has been over a year since the Proudman family last graced our screens in Offspring.

But, fans were left wondering if the hit Aussie series would be returning for an eighth season after it was left out of Network Tens 2018 line up.

Now, Richard Davies – who plays Jimmy Proudman in the series – has shed light on whether the series is really gone for good.

“Between seasons five and six there was two years off, so maybe,” he tells New Idea.

“Never say never, but I imagine the horse has bolted and it won’t come back.”

Whether or not the series is renewed Richard reveals that the cast and crew are still incredibly close to each other.

“We still catch up and have fun,” he shares. “I caught up with Linda Cropper and Kat Stewart for dinner the other night and we always have a laugh.

“It sounds cliché but it’s like a little family.”

Meanwhile, Richard is currently starring in Netflix’s first original Australian series, Tidelands, alongside an all-star cast including Elsa Pataky and Charlotte Best.

When ex-con, Cal (Charlotte) returns to her hometown after a stint in prison she begins to uncover generation-long conspiracies involving drugs, murder and a mysterious group of half-human, half-sirens known as ‘Tidelanders,’ led by the seductive Adrielle (Elsa).

“It’s such a different world, it’s like nothing I’ve ever shot before. I love the elements and it’s like two shows in one and they collide in the best possible way,” Richard says.

“The cast they assembled is amazing and when people give you good scripts and a good universe to jump into it’s pretty easy [to say yes].”
