Liz Ellis’ heartbreaking confession

The netball star opens up about her fertility issues.

Liz struggled with fertility for years, and heartbreakingly endured three miscarriages and five rounds of IVF.

After years of hardship she was lucky enough to conceive two beautiful children, Evelyn, six, and Austin, two.

But the former netball star admits that going through IVF was one of the toughest times in her life.

‘Sometimes fertility treatment can be really lonely,’ she reveals to New Idea. ‘We were fortunate that we fell pregnant naturally after years and years of treatment, but I got to the end and I thought: “There’s so much I know now that I wish I knew at the start.”’

So, Liz has penned a book, If At First You Don’t Conceive, to help other struggling women in the same position.

‘I’m really proud of it,’ tells Liz. ‘It was a moment where I took myself out of my comfort zone, but I hope that the book will help a lot of people.’

And while a fortune teller once told Liz that she would have three children, the mum says that she is finished at two.

‘I’m 45, that chapter is definitely closed for me,’ she says.

‘I think when you’ve got a toddler and you’re 45, you’re like, this is pretty tiring, but I feel this book is my third child.’
