She’s assured Robbo (Jake Ryan) that she’s completely supportive of his plan to have a child through IVF with Tori (Penny McNamee). But is Jasmine (Sam Frost) being entirely honest about her feelings with the man she loves?
In a must-see week of Home and Away, Robbo asks the Summer Bay nurse for a rain check when she invites him to spend time with her after they run into each other on the beach.
Explaining that the IVF results are due in at any moment, Robbo apologises for having to turn down Jasmine.
While Jasmine laughs off his ‘rejection’, we see that she may be starting to feel a little on the outer. “I think for Jas, she’s quite torn,” reflects Sam.
“She’s obviously totally in love with Robbo and wants to be supportive. She knows how much having a baby means to both Robbo and Tori. But she can’t help but wonder whether his having a child with Tori is going to sway his feelings for her. She does begin to feel insecure.”
Soon after, Jasmine confides her feelings to her housemate Irene (Lynne McGranger).
Admitting she’s a little worried about how her relationship with Robbo will be impacted once Tori is actually pregnant, Jasmine is quick to add that it will simply be an adjustment.
Surely everything will work out, she says with all the confidence she can muster.
“From Jasmine’s perspective, she thinks Robbo and Tori have made a huge commitment to each other,” says Sam.
“They’re essentially committing to being involved with someone for life. Even though it’s not romantic, having a baby is more of a commitment than anything else. I think Jasmine is feeling a bit out of place and not sure where she fits into the puzzle.”
Indeed, Jasmine has never felt more awkward than when she walks in on Tori and Robbo at the hospital. Quickly making an excuse, she races out of the room and into a lift as a confused Robbo runs after her.
