Home and Away’s Darius Williams: The real truth about Ty

"It's been amazing!"

His time in the Bay has come to an end, with Ty farewelling his foster family and friends for a fresh start with his mother Jodi (Sara Zwangobani). But for Ty’s portrayer, talented young star Darius Williams, there can be no regrets – this has been the opportunity of a lifetime.

‘It’s been nothing short of a privilege to be able to work alongside Olivia (Deeble), Emily (Symons) and Shane (Withington),’ says Darius.

‘Everyone has been as loving a family off screen as they have on screen.

‘I came into the show with some nerves, not knowing what it would be like, but as soon as I met everyone, those worries just disappeared.’

During his six-month stint on the show, 19-year-old Darius has tackled several significant storylines, not the least of which involved Ty’s sexuality.

‘That’s been such a big journey for him to figure that out, and it’s something that is and should be portrayed a lot more on television so people can relate to it,’ he says.

‘I just hope I’ve done it justice.’

Now studying at the prestigious West Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Darius has high hopes for the future. And he’s also not ruling out a return to the Bay.

‘I would personally love to come back,’ he says. ‘I think Ty definitely has a lot more stories to tell.’
