This four-week-old has such luscious brown locks that they showed up on an ultrasound – and everyone stops to coo over the baby girl’s bouncy brown barnet.

After going for a growth scan, parents-of-two Natalie Binsted, 29, and Gareth McWhinney, 27, were told to expect a hairy baby – and that this explained the mum’s awful heartburn throughout her pregnancy.

Despite the sonographer’s prediction, the mum and dad got the shock of a lifetime when Emily McWhinney arrived on October 23 with a full head of hair.

Now Natalie can’t go anywhere without strangers stopping her to admire Emily’s gorgeous brunette tresses, which are growing so fast they already reach the base of the baby girl’s neck.

Full-time mum Natalie, of Holyhead, Anglesey, said: “We went for a scan and the sonographer noticed Emily’s hair straight away.

“She told us that it’s really uncommon to be able to see so much hair on a scan and that it explained why I’d been having such bad heartburn.

“My heartburn was really bad from 18 weeks through to 30 weeks. I would be waking up through the night with heartburn and acid reflux. It was really exhausting. I never had it with my other little girl.

“People say it’s an old wives’ tale that mums get heartburn when they’re pregnant with babies with loads of hair but the sonographer said it’s the only old wives’ tale she actually believes is true.

“Even though she told us about it, it was still a massive shock when Emily was born and she had this full head of hair.

“It was the first thing everyone noticed. As she was being born the midwife and nurses kept saying ‘wow it’s got loads of hair’ because we kept her gender a surprise too.

“He hair just hasn’t stopped growing since she was born. She’s got this lovely mop of thick brown hair.

“It’s getting quite long. It completely covers her ears and comes to the base of her neck at the back. And she’s got this lovely side fringe that comes down to her eyebrows.

“Everyone comments on it when we go out. Everywhere we go people stop us to look at her hair, especially the oldies – they love it.

“It makes it a bit of a struggle getting anywhere with all the strangers coming over to see Emily’s hair but it’s nice.

“We even had to take her to the hospital recently as she had bronchitis and all the doctors and trainees kept coming in just to see her hair. People just can’t believe it.”

The adorable tot’s mane has earned her the nickname ‘the hairy one’ with her family as it is such a stark contrast to her three-year-old sister Sophie McWhinney’s strawberry blonde curls.

While Emily’s thick brown hair is from her mum’s side of the family, Sophie takes after the girls’ dad Gareth, a farrier.

A lover of long hair, Natalie hopes her youngest’s locks keep on growing and dreads the day Emily has to go for her first trim.

Natalie said: “Our friends and family all love Emily’s hair as much as we do. We call her the hairy one.

“Her hair is so different to her sister’s hair which is strawberry blonde and curly. Emily’s is brown and really straight.

“Emily takes after me and Sophie takes after her dad. It’s so nice we’ve got one that takes after each of us.

“I think Emily’s hair is just going to keep on growing. I hope it does.

“People joke about her needing her first haircut soon but we’ve not spoken about it. I don’t even want to think about it. I don’t want to cut it, I just want to let it grow.”
