Popular Spanish blogger Vanessa Fernandez Arango has died during childbirth after inspiring thousands of people with her IVF journey.
The 30-year-old shared her and her husband Jonathon Garcia Arango’s IVF journey through Instagram. The bio on their account revealed that they had struggled for years with Vanessa suffering two ectopic pregnancies – one in September 2016 and the other in April 2017. Vanessa posted to Instagram in May an image of a positive pregnancy test alongside a caption that read in part, “The beginning of the end. The principle of feeling life, and the end of suffering.”
Tragically, the couple did not receive the happy ending they were holding out for. The mum-to-be fainted while eating breakfast when she was 38 weeks pregnant. She was rushed to hospital where doctors performed an emergency cesarean. Unfortunately, Vanessa died after going into cardiac arrest.
Her 32-year-old husband shared on Instagram that Vanessa was in pain while eating and fainted. He wrote, “The child is in a very serious condition in the ICU and my wife has suffered a cardiac arrest from which she could not overcome.”
He also shared the news to her Twitter account and noted the account will be closed.
Johnathon has continued to post to Instagram and share updates about his progress as a single dad.
He wrote in one post, “Here you have our first family photo, the fourth member of the family that watches from the sky and helps us get up at 3am is missing.”
Jonathon also thanked the staff at Cruces Hospital for saving his son Alvaro’s life after being in the newborn intensive care unit.
In another post he wrote, “I never imagined a goodbye message in her honor would have led to such an avalanche of support… I want you to know I will continue with her dream of helping other couples.”
