Survivor Australia’s Mat Rogers has taken to Instagram to post an emotional tribute to his later father.
He wrote, “This week is Mental Health Week. Just over 12 years ago I lost my best mate, my mentor, my hero, my dad to suicide.
“Was the toughest time in my life as I was confronted with something I knew little to nothing about and it was the person that was closest to me,” he added.
“All I ever wanted to be was like dad. I was so angry, confused and hurt.
“Thanks to some awesome people and organisations out there now days like.”

The former footy star added, “Please don’t let your loved ones suffer in silence. Understand mental health and the impact it has.
“Ask the questions, talk to loved ones.
“You never know what’s going on inside unless you ask.”
Rogers recently appeared on the latest season of Australian Survivor: Champions vs. Contenders.
Rogers finished in 9th place and became the third member of the jury.
